SAFECROWDS has promoted Anthony Doe to the role Head of Training Academy as we scale up our training capabilities to support our model of directly employed teams across our business.

An experienced trainer with 15 years’ experience, Anthony is a British Army veteran who completed two tours of Afghanistan and has worked in the civilian security sector for two decades. He has been a key part of the SAFECROWDS training team for more than a year, and his talent, knowledge and passion for supporting trainees to succeed have led to his promotion as our Head of Academy.

Anthony joined the army straight from school at 16 years old and served for four years before leaving the military to begin a career in the private security sector, initially in explosives detection. Alongside his security career, Anthony was keen to improve his knowledge and qualifications, undertaking a part-time course in criminal law. As a Dyslexic, he found the exams quite challenging but was inspired by learning, going on to complete additional security courses.

“The transition from army life to a civilian workplace is tough,” explains Anthony, “and the training I did played a significant role in helping me manage that change. I wanted to be able to support other people making a change to improve their lives, whether they were ex-military, had faced challenges, or just wanted to pursue a career in security, so I decided to train as a trainer, which has led to a very rewarding career.”

Training part-time while continuing to work in a variety of security roles, including door supervision, retail security and SIA licensed guarding roles, Anthony became a full-time trainer in 2010. He worked as a freelance trainer from then on, until being offered a full-time role at SAFECROWDS.

Rory McGoldrick, SAFECROWDS’s CEO comments: “Anthony has valuable professional knowledge and discipline, with a wealth of deployment experience, and he is also passionate about helping people learn in a way that works for them. By taking that approach, he has a proven track record of enabling people to pursue their career goals and change their lives.

“It’s important to us that the training we provide delivers high standards of competency and professionalism, because we employ a high proportion of the people we train. With Anthony leading our Academy, we can also be confident that training is inclusive and supportive, enabling each individual to maximise their potential and progress in their career.”

In addition to remaining hands-on as a trainer on the SAFECROWDS Academy team, Anthony also takes responsibility for scheduling training courses, assigning correctly skilled and experienced trainers, and quality assurance in his new role as Head of the SAFECROWDS Training Academy.

“It’s an ideal opportunity for me to be part of a company that closes the loop between training and careers,” Anthony adds, “because my role includes making sure our current team’s skills are up-to-date, as well as enabling people to begin a career in security, which could involve being taken on as a SAFECROWDS employee, with guaranteed hours and job security.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to make a difference to the varied candidates we train here at SAFECROWDS.”
