Screening & vetting our team

The calibre of the people on our team is a critical part of the service standards we offer, and we are committed to ensuring that we screen and vet everyone we employ, above and beyond mandatory industry standards.

Who do we screen and vet?

Screening and vetting is mandatory for security teams working in the private security industry. We work to ISO BS 7858 standards to screen and vet all our security, stewarding, and safeguarding personnel, and also apply the same high standards to our head office personnel.

We directly employ our teams, so you can always be confident that any personnel you have on site from SAFECROWDS have passed our screening and vetting requirements.

What does our screening and vetting look like?

Our background checks are designed to ensure that you have complete peace of mind, because every SAFECROWDS team member we deploy at your site is trustworthy and fully verified. These processes support the detailed management information you will have at your fingertips thanks to our Guardhouse digital reporting tool and portal, which records which team members are on site.

Our screening and vetting processes include:

  • Right to work check – we verify that every member of our team can legally work in the UK.
  • ID check – we require a verifiable photo ID from very member of the team and ensure we check that they are who they say they are.
  • Address check – we verify the current and previous addresses of every member of the team for the past five years.
  • Employment history – we check every employee’s employment history, verifying where they have worked and requiring them to account for any gaps in their career.
  • Credit checks – we ensure that none of our employees have debts such that their financial situation could be leveraged to compromise your security.
  • DBS checks – we now also carry out a standard DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check on every member of our stewarding team.

In addition to our robust screening service, all our SIA licensed security professionals have also undergone vetting processes associated with their certification, including a criminal records check and health checks.

Security team recruitment best practice

Our screening and vetting processes are central to our best practice security recruitment processes. We explain the requirements to every candidate when they apply for a role with us and support them to complete the correct forms and supply accurate information to streamline their journey from first application to first day at work. We make it clear to every potential SAFECROWDS team member that the sooner we can get them through the screening process, the sooner they can begin their career with us – but there are no short cuts, and that’s our commitment to every client.
